I am buying a new 24-27" monitor for PC use and I watch PAL videos a lot and 50Hz is must with them because with 60Hz it's very jerky. I have tested with 17" and 19" monitors to lowering the refresh rate from 60Hz to 50Hz using powerstrip and it worked perfectly, even if they were spected 56-75Hz. PAL video was very smooth after that.

Does this work with these bigger monitors? Most of them have 56-75Hz specs, but BenQ FP241WZ has 50-76Hz. Mainly I am looking for Samsung 275T, but if it's not working with it, then maybe BenQ FP241W(Z) or LG L245WP-BN.

Please test and report here.

Works on Westinghouse 1080p 37" (LVM-37W3SE) at 1920x1080x50p, enforced via Powerstrip.

btw: if you have the means, get a hold of Top Gear's Polar Challenge special in 1080p, aired on the 25th and the 29th on BBC HD, very very slick!

I can confirm the Benq can deal with 1080p 50hz signals without any issues at all. My PS3 upscales DVD's to 1080p @ 50hz and they look great!

Cheers :D

Is it just that it can handle 50Hz through 60Hz or really outputting 50Hz 50fps? Have you watched scrolling text in PAL videos? Is it perfectly smooth or is there little jumping?

The monitor says it is doing 50hz not 60hz. I confirmed this 100% with Benq before I purchased this monitor, as my previous Dell 2407 could not do any 50hz modes, or support PAL in any way.

I just upscaled a movie to 1080p 50hz and everything was as smooth as butter, I checked the end credits too, not a skip or stutter noticable at all :)

Cheers :D

What do you think, can LG L245WP-BN handle 50Hz? They both uses the same panel.

Anyone who can test it, please! This is important.
