i am wondering if it is worth it to try to get a digital camera, batteries, and everything for that much? i could pull it off with the canon a310... or a nikon coolpix 2200.. i think i would go with the 310 over the nikon for the extra megapixel... what else do people reccomend? or should i get an a70?

i technically have the money to get the a70.. but i am about to go to europe in a few weeks... (the main reason why i want the camera) and that is already going to be expensive... also.. there always is the slight chance that the camera would be damaged, lost, or stolen.. which in that case i would feel better about losing a 310 than an a70... i guess the pictuers would matter more though..

but yeah.. i might wind up going for broke on this trip... so maybe i should just get a 310??? will it more or less take the same quality pics as an a70 or a75 without the manual options (which i don't know how to use anyways?) i can fix my poor camera skills with my better photoshop skills...

edit.. i guess i am looking for durability.. the 310 looks less likely to break do to the fixed lens.. (i have a friends dead coolpix 2100, because he dropped with the lens extended, and jammed it.. i tried to fix it but couldn't) i am probably going to just carry the thing on a cargo pocket.. i doubt i will be going the whole, camera around my neck, backpack on my back, holding a map and shit route... i just don't picture myself rollin like that... i will likely want it to be small and fit in my pocket and not get broken doing so...

also, where shoudl i get batteries and a charger? newegg? or bust buy / circuit shitty ??? edit again: i guess you get a free fuji charger and panasonic batts as a combo deal with all of the cameras i would buy off newegg... will that suffice?

a60>a310 due to better zoom, better build quality, and lower barrel distortaion

same image quality unless you are printing 8x10 or higher

i am thinking that the 310 will be less likely to break due to the fixed lens... is it built better otherwise?

i might as well spend the extra $50 for the a70 then.. well.. it might be more like 70, 80

lots of people on here are canon freaks...but personally the first camera I got was a Nikon point and shoot, and I'd recommend it. The Coolpix 2200 and a 310 are both very good....I think the 2200 is a little smaller, but the a310 is probably a little thinner. They are both going to give you comparable results as bottom of the line point and shoots. But the extra pixel on the a310 is nice.... I don't know about the a310 price but you can find a new coolpix 2200 for 139 dollars if you shop smart.

well.. i went canon and got an a60... $150 and some change... with the fuji starter kit at newegg... i guess i will never know if i would have been better off with the a310 or not...
