The package arrived yesterday, but I had already flown out of Rochester. I got an email from our campus post office to notify me that I had indeed received a package. I emailed Chris to let him know that I was assuming it was indeed the package that he'd sent, but that I was unable to verify it's contents or whether or not the hard drive that I'm assuming is inside works, and whether or not he had enclosed the $ amount we'd agreed on. Chris wrote me back saying that the hard drive was indeed in the package, but that he was not able to enclose the money since he doesn't have any.

Since Chris put me off for so long after I was finally able to get in touch with him, I'm no longer at school and I'll not be able to conclude the deal or provide any updates until I get back in three weeks. All I can say is that I cannot confirm or deny that I received the hard drive in question, but Chris does still owe me money.

If ya ask me, he probably got the HDD after going through a bunch of people's trash cans brushed it up, said his little lalaby and sent it. While at the same time giving hopes youd get some sorta green paper, which sounds like of course he did not include.

Nah, I am not being serious, more sarcastic, but you never know.
(You'd be amazed at what my brother has found that people would throw away. Course, most of it was crap, but over time made a PC lol)
 
Yeah, well the hard drive is supposed to be under warranty...and he did send a picture of two Raptors, though there was no proof that it was a picture of his Raptors. He's actually asked me to post the picture on here, but since he was still putting off sending my drive and since it didn't have any proof that it was a current picture of hard drives in his possession, I decided not to post it for him.
 
Keep us updated I would like to see if you got your Harddrive, I doubt alot of us will see our money again.. if he is truely broke, Living with his mom and these jobs he rumours to have are real, there should be some kind of funds collecting in one of his accounts.

$4000 dissappeared really fast either he has some big Phone bills to pay, or he a serious Drug Head.

I don't know how many times ive heard people quote chris in this thread talking about his 'unexpected bills' i have no idea why people are still considering he actually has bills to pay, unless a bar tab is considered a bill, then i doubt he doesnt pay for anything.

Just thought I'd drop in for a quick note.

I don't believe that picture is of him. I believe that picture came from his now-defunct Myspace and if I recall correctly, was captioned "One of my homies" or something to that extent. There are/were a few other pics of him floating around and none of them look like that; pretty sure it's him taking a pic of one of his buddies doing their "thing".

Nevertheless, if that's the kind of people he hangs around, then you can clearly see where the horrible attitude/trading practices stem from. As they say, you can tell a lot about someone by the people he/she associates with...
 
Having read through this thread there seems to be more confusion now. Can we simplify things? How many people have actually either had their money returned or had their item delivered?

I agree, that all he will do is wait for the hub bub to die down and he will be back at it again.

This is his second time doing this and nobody seems to care. If the people that were scammed did care they would have filed the proper police reports to put this punk behind bars for a while.

I live less than 2hrs away from him, and it is a straight shot on 44 so it wouldn't take long at all. The only reason I got my refund for my q6600 was because I promised him that I would take the time out of my day to drive down there and get either my product or my money.

And my next opinon might not be highly favored, but it is my opinon none the less.

If LogitechFreak scammed you and if you didn't file a police report, then IMHO you are no better than he is. This is a community and your community needed you. Is filling out a police report so time consuming that you couldn't take 30-45mins out of your day or on the weekend to ensure that the community (everyone involved with LogitechFreak) as a whole didn't screwed.

It is that same selfish, its only $30 attitude that screwed other members that had been scammed for $400+.

We are supposed to stick together and keep these trolls at bay, and what happens? He gets away with $4k+.
 
An update from my earlier post. The hard drive did arrive, but the money didn't. I installed the hard drive and it was clicking and wasn't detected. I called Chris and he said he'll send an additional $10 with the money we'd previously agreed on to cover RMA shipping. He says he's waiting for his new PayPal account to be verified (they have to send those small amounts to your bank account). I'll keep you guys posted with new developments.

Further evidence that PayPal is one step away from a scam operation. Criminals love PayPal because PayPal loves them.
 
where is he doing all these scams from? To get a good idea of where he lives around

get a map and get all the IPs he has been using and mark the spots on the map. This should give you an area where he is located and where he likes to do his scams.

I know that if the cops are involved then it might be wise to let them handle it. However so far it doesnt seem like much is being done from that end. It is not hard for a few mods to recruit some member here who they feel can assist in finding out where he is. There is a reason why the police put out pictures of wanted people. The more people know, the less chance he has of not being caught or seen. Trust in the communities help and in doing so the right way.

Not to be rude, but since you're clearly not well informed about what's going on, please refrain from posting. His address and phone number are both listed an anandtech, and the details of our interations with his local police can be seen there as well.
 
My last update. After waiting a week for Chris to get back to me, I finally called him. While we were on the phone, he sent me the money we'd agreed on plus money to cover shipping the drive to Western Digital to have it RMAed. Now I'm just waiting on WD, but my transactions with Chris are finally done.

Chris's PayPal was from an email address that I've not seen before, but I don't want to post it because I'm not sure if the forum rules would allow it and I didn't ask Chris if I could.

I would by no means vouch for Chris, but I was persistent and eventually got the hard drive and money to make up for the inconsistencies and RMA. Since Chris's contact info is posted on Anandtech, I would encourage anyone who still has issues to go ahead and give him a call if you're willing to take some more time for a chance at getting what's owed.

I believe his heat account has been closed.

Edit: But I'm sure he's working on getting another one setup, This was at least his second Heat account.
 
It is indeed closed. And I'm kinda glad, because that means I don't have to retype the details of my transaction with him.
 
I haven't since I got the last of my money. I guess others either also got their stuff/money or gave up.

to send me the verification code so i can verify my debit card and
start sending money. '

It's been almost a month now. Still no refunds and he hasn't responded to my
last email which was sent about 2 days ago.

He'd said the same thing to me, and then never got back to me. A week later I called him and he sent the money while I was on the phone. I'd encourage you to call rather than just emailing. I called him a lot, and I guess I got on his nerves (or maybe his housemates/parents since sometimes other people answered the phone).

Long story short, I know for a fact he has a working non-CC PayPal account, cause he sent me money from it.

And Newbie, I know you helped head up the hunt, but have you been calling him? If not, give it a shot. After a week he and I could recognize each other's voices on the phone. Don't give up just cause the cops did.

So he didn't give you any excuse like he doesn't have money and stuff? how much did he send you?
 
He ran me around for a while, but eventually I got a Raptor. It was 8 mb cache instead of 16, and he told me that before he shipped it. He agreed to send some money to make up the difference. Then the drive was DOA, so he agreed to send money to cover the RMA shipping. He sent me $25 total + the drive.

Keep in mind this whole thing took over a month (partly because I was on vacation part of the time), and I heard every excuse along the way.
 
I have talked to him, and he is indeed locked out of his paypal, so sending money that way is out of the picture. Just some info for those waiting on paypal transfers.

dood, dont believe anything he says, hes such a con. Aside form paypal being locked, Im sure he promised everyone here a money order back in early december, just like he did to me. He's full of shit.
