Calibrating my LCD?

Well i got a new LG204WT and its amazing, pictures look super but im having problems with video, specifically dvd's. When i watch videos online, the color and darks are perfect, but when im trying to watch them from a commercial dvd, in my dvd player they are too dark. I have tried Winamp, Divx, VLC, WMP. They all appear too dark. I have a 6800gt and all my drivers are updated.
