Calibrating an HTPC HDTV (Nvidia)

What's the school of thought when calibrating an HDTV hooked to an HTPC? Compared to simply calibrating a television, between the OS and the GPU there are several additional considerations I'm not entirely familiar with; Nvidia control panel, LUT profiles and Windows 7 color management for instance. Is there a way to ensure that Windows won't muck with my colors during movie playback? I have a colorimeter, calibration DVD, the grayscale guide for dummies, but I'm not entirely sure how best to integrate (or bypass) the GPU and the OS in the pursuit of "perfect" color. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Calibrate monitor, don't dick with HTPC settings.

Calibrate by changing settings on both....

As long as your colorimeter is showing the proper settings... that's all that matters.
