Firstly, I am not sure if this is in the right place but I could not find a fitting home for this. Mods you are welcome to move it wherever you see fit.

I am thinking of purchasing the following TV with a DVI input and connecting it to my PC (ATI X1300 Pro) as an alternate monitor, mostly for watching films.

The issue I have is that I am going to need about a 10m DVI cable for this and was worried about how the signal would manage. The cable I am currently looking at is this one. Also, I will be running 10m twin phono audio cables to my surround sound woofer, and even some of those will be going out from the woofer to other speakers in 10m lengths. As for these cables, I was hoping I could use standard cabling, nothing fancy.

I was also wondering if 3 wire RCA with video, left audio, right audio, each yellow white and red respectively, could be used just for audio, but using the yellow video cable for audio also?

Should I expect any issues here?

Thanks :)

EDIT: Will hopefully be outputting over the DVI at 1280 x 768 (if this would have any effect on the signal quality)

The maximum length of DVI cables is not included in the specification since it is dependant on bandwidth requirements (the resolution of the image being transmitted). In general, cable lengths from 1-15 feet (4.5m) will work for displays at resolutions of 1920x1200. Cable lengths up to 50 feet (15m) can be used with displays at resolutions up to 1280x1024. For longer distances, to eliminate the video degradation, the use of a DVI booster is recommended. DVI boosters may or may not use an external power supply.

So 10 meters should be ok at that resolution. Worst case is find a DVI booster to be on the safe side.

Here's some basic info on the RCA audio question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCA_connector
