Just a really quick question I just bought Ide cables offline and I was wondering if there is any difrence between most cables like can there be slow cables and fast cables or are they all the same.

Shielded cables (80 pin) work better than the unshielded ones (40 pin). I think it only applies to hard drives, or you can't really notice the difference when using them with CD and other drives.

Depends on the quality of the cable too. I bought a cheap rounded ide cable, and kept getting errors in windows, plus drive read errors. When I finally replaced the cable, poof no more problems. But, slow speed usually isnt a factor unless you try to use a new hard drive *anything ata 66 or higher* with an unshielded 40 wire ide cable.
