Cable Sleeve Question

So I'm looking to sleeve my cables in my future build, and I noticed that I could get it in a variety of sizes. 1/2", 1/4", and 1/8". I want to sleeve my single IDE cable from my optical drive, the SATA power cables from two hard drives, as well as the power cable from the optical drive. That's pretty much it, I'm going to try and find some UV SATA cables with a 90 degree end to them. What I don't know is what length and what size of sleeving I need to get, 1/2", 1/4", or 1/8". My build is below...

eVGA 7800GTX
DVD/CR-RW Drive
2x 120GB SATA Hard Drives
Antec SmartPower 500 Watt

try cableorganizer.com. they just sell sleeving, heat shrink and sleeving and heat shrink tools. so you dont get the mark-up from "case modding" stores and for kits. ive been sleeving my cables for 4 or 5 years and i dont think you will be able to sleeve an ide cable. to sleeve your power cables, if you are going to remove/replace the molex connectors, you only need 1/4" sleeving. you could even get away with 1/8", but you sometimes can see thru the sleeving becaused its stretched pretty good. if you are not going to remove your molexes(not a good idea) you will probably need at least 1/2" sleeving to pull over the connectors, and it will be baggy and look bad. also, you will not be able to use heatshrink. buy the universal male/female molex pin remover, remove the molexes, and tape the pins to the cables while pulling the sleeving and heatshrink over them. also go to performance-pcs.com and buy extra molex pins. are you getting the idea that this is not easy to do right? if you only have some of your cables sleeved, it looks half-assed. also, uv colors look bad. use black, chrome or stainless sleeving. while your doing the sleeving, swap out your connectors for connectright connectors. better yet, buy yourself a sleeved psu. you can buy many types of sleeved cables(not ide tho) from frozencpu or performance-pcs. good luck.
 
You can sleeve 40pin/80conductor cable easily enough... you have to remove the plugs from the cable though, then just fold the cable into a zigzag... I generally fold every 8 conductors. Be sure to leave about 2" at either end to allow the cable to spread back out flat.

I used to work at a computer store tho, so I've got a crimper for reinstalling the plugs... a vice does just as well, and in a pinch you can use a pair of pliers... but it's pretty easy to end up with a cable that gets shorted out with the 80conductor cable.

Next best suggestion... buy sata stuff. :D
 
Well, my hard drives are all SATA. I know they have a SATA Optical Drive out there, but I think it's pretty expensive. I'm debating over the clean look vs. the UV look. Clean would be black sleeving and the UV would be either orange or blue.

Do any of the Antec PSUs come pre-sleeved?
 
yea im sure the neo line does and kind of sure about the tru-power which has black.. you can check out performance-pcs.com . all of the psu's are sleeved, with the color and heat shrink color of your choice.
