Currently, this is how I have my network setup...Cable Modem to Vonage box to Linksys Router to Computers. Now this is your standard, textbook setup with vonage and it works...however we seem to have an issue with our cable modem crapping out. At least once a day, when there has not been any online activity for awhile and I go online or use Outlook, the modem goes out and sometimes resets itself or it has to be physically unplugged and reset...which as you can imagine gets a bit tiresome.

Would it make any sense (networking n00b please forgive)...instead of letting everything to run automatically, to do the following:

Cable Modem to Vonage Box to Router...set the Router from Gateway mode to Router mode (since the vonage box is essentially the first router and the Linksys is no longer a gateway) and then use the following advanced settings on the router:

RIP: Both
Destination IP (the Vonage Box): 192.168.102.100
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.68.102.1
Interface: WAN

Could this help in the stability at all? Screw things up any more? Not quite correct but on the right track?

Thank you for any advice or insight.
