How does everyone connect there htpc to there network? Wireless or Wired? Because I got me a new xbox 360 and tying to see if i should get another ethernet cable to run to the xbox.
I currently have a 50ft cable running to my htpc from my router

next year i will be getting a ps3 so that would be a 3 wireds.

I tried to run stuff wireless on Draft N using a netgear 5 GHz router and it still didnt work nearly as good as with a Ethernet cable. And I was only about 20 ft away from the router through a wall.

Windows Media Center from the 360 was choppy, cut in and out of episodes and crashed often. Hardwired there are no problems and it runs very fast. For just regular gaming you might not notice much of a difference (but every lag second counts) :)

Buy a cheapo switch to put up there if you don't want to hassle with running another 50 ft cable.

Wired Ethernet. Wireless for HTPC is a bad idea. My home is prewired with network jacks everywhere so it was a no-brainer.

Get a small switch and hide it behind the components.

Wired. My router is in my entertainment center, so it didn't take too much effort!

can i run the xbox through the htpc with a wired nic. i have a pci nic that i brought for no reason

I run an ethernet cable to my tv . . . and there is a small switch by my tv that splits off for my xbox, ps3, and when my friends bring their stuff.
