I have seen people taping cables to the side of their case. What kind of tape should be used for this?
 
The sticky kind.

No, really, afaik any kind of tape will work. Some people don't like to use tape that will melt easily, and duct tape does leave a residue... I'd suggest masking tape, though duct tape holds better.
 
well looks like a time for my theatre backround to come into play.... the tape i use for cabling on lights, audio whatever is called gaf tape... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...&kw=ROSTBL&is=REG&Q=&O=productlist&sku=108056... the link i posted is spike tape that comes in a smaller size 3/4"... it also comes in a 2" variety in tons of colors.... even glow and UV.... it also comes off clean after being on anything for over a year.... and it can stand up to insane amounts of heat (1000w light running for like 5 hours a day for 2 weeks, comes off clean)... so if you really want "pro" tape and want a cool custom look gaf/spike tape is the way to go!
 
don't use tape. it just leaves a sticky mess after a while and if you move some cables or add another device, you have to peal it up and it just becomes nasty.

See Footer4321's link for tape that doesn't leave a residue. I work in the food processing industry, and we use spike tape when we're working in some of the clean rooms that requires a non-residue tape.
 
use any strong tape as long as your willing to buy the GOO BE GONE tube
