Anyone else notice high pitched noises from their c300 ssd?

Mine has a constant high pitched noise and it intensifies during any sort of usage for example booting.

Time to rma I guess. :(

It's most likely the inductor in the buck converter. What you are hearing is a resonant frequency of the ferrite core body. That would pretty much be the only part that can create any kind of noise in an SSD. Usually a drop of super glue can fix that for you. The reason this gets louder or sometimes can change the pitch (depending on the buck converter design) is due to changes in the load current.

Seems I'm not alone in this.

I've been reading reviews at different stores and such and found at least two dozen users who have reported the exact same issue.

Disappointing since I would like to purchase another c300.

I'm guessing the vast majority of SSDs will have the same noise. Luckily it's just very high pitched and easily ignorable.

Just out of curiosity are you > 25? I wonder if this issue is like those high frequency cell phone rings that only teenagers can hear :) (It would help explain why reports of it haven't been more prevalent)

Maybe however none of my other non-c300 ssds make any noises that I can hear.

I'm 22.

Maybe mine is worse off than others but I can still hear my c300 in a totally different room that's how bad it is.
