I'm not sure this is the correct forum to post in, but since I don't know where my problem is this is what I chose.

So I finally got all the parts together for my new Conroe based comp. My old comp went belly up last week and being unable to solve it's problems I ended up deciding this was a good time to upgrade anyway and ordered up some new parts.

I believe I researched the issue properly. I figured I could keep my PSU and X850XT since I did get power and at least part of the boot sequence.

With that in mind I bought:
Asus P5B Deluxe
Core 2 Duo E6600
G.Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBZX http://www.gskill.com/en/f2-6400phu2-zx.html

I installed it all with my old:
SeaSonic S11 500W
MSI X850XT

But got no post, all the fans were running but nothing on screen. Cleared Cmos - no change. I've since tried any combination of the ram modules, completely clean (CPU, Ram, GPU) still nothing happens apart from the fans running and the little Asus logo changing from blue to redish.

I've tested both CPU and PSU with the old mobo and it posts.

I'm pulling out my hair here, anyone got any ideas on what to try? Unfortunately I have no other DDR2 modules, no other Intel's (haven't had one since 486) and no other Conroe ready mobos (of course).

Thanks in advance

Ok, after some digging around it appears the P5B has problems with several popular brands (G.Skill and OCZ are both mentioned) guess I'm gonna try getting some Corsair tomorrow unless someone else comments.

Guess that means this can be moved to Intel based Motherboards.

Edit:
Confirmed, it is the G.Skill - got boot with cheap PC4200.
