should I make the jump?

everything will transfer over, since i'll probably be using the Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA motherboard.

Fry's has the processor onsale right now for 159.99 or 179.99 for the E6300
 
Get an E4300 if you're going to use it with the ASRock board. You'll need the 9x multi with that VIA chipset.
