I’m relatively new to the OC’ing game so bare with me.
I have 4 X 512 DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) pqi Turbo memory that I currently use in a Pentium 4 system and would like to move over to a core 2 duo system. Yet, I keep hearing that 533 memory wont overclock very well with C2D and that you should only use 667 or higher if you plan to overclock. I’m hoping for an overclock to around 2.5 ghz (on a 6400 C2D, from 2.14ghz). can I use my 533 memory to get that kind of overclock? The motherboard I plan on using is an ABIT AB9 Pro Socket T.
Any help would be appreciated!
:D

You might be able to get to 2.5 GHz by adding more voltage to the RAM. The best thing to do is try to see how far the RAM will overclock before deciding to switch it out for DDR2-667/800. If you're only shooting for 2.5 GHz then don't waste your money on DDR2-800 unless you can get a good deal on it.
