I have been trying to run certain programs on my school's computers, but recently they have put in a software restriction policy that seems to block pretty much all programs except microsoft office and internet and so on. Is there any way to go around these restrictions? I tried the "run as" method that is on the internet, but it does not work. The only way that I have found is to run from a zip file without extracting, but this only works for self-contained exe's and not with any program that has to access archived files. Any ideas? thanks

Asking this sort of question is against the rules here. Even if it wasn't, a good number of the people here are people in IT positions who have to put up with users like you every day, so don't expect a friendly response.

Is it for registering the software or activating it, if the later of the the two thats not allowed

A good number more will will be people not in IT positions who appreciate the circumstances in which people in IT psoitions find themselves!

There's a simple concept here. If somebody is using a PC which is owned by somebody else they should respect the conditions and restrictions under which that use is provided. It's as simple as that.

The simple answer to your question, krazyklutzykorean, is "Go talk to your school's IT section and explain the situation." It could well be that what you want to do on the PC falls within the school's guidelines for 'acceptable use', and if so it is the role of the IT personnel to assist you with the problem.
