I really dont like thermaltake. They come with a lot of extras that make the inside of your case a wirey mess.
 
If you have a drenel they work great for cutting out stock fan grills. I would try to stay away from that PSU unless you already have it.
 
Get a better psu (antec, ocz, fortron), get a better nibbler (found at home depot or lowes, will make it much easier), and i have the tsunami and its too cramped for my tastes so depends if you want lots of room or not. I would also suggest making your own window if you plan on getting that case since it shows EVERYTHING and they put the TT name on the window which is gay imo.
 
dont get the psu or the thermal take case.

psu because it's a pos

case cuz the pci slots are absolute crap

you'd be better off with a lian li, antec, cooler master, chenming or something like that.
 
Is the Thermaltake THAT bad? I mean, I hate their xaser + overbranding crap as much as anyone, but the Tsunami struck me as an exception. Or are we just working on the principle that Thermaltake doesn't deserve our money, regardless?

Regarding X-hour, I find it unlikely - they just pick a random item in their store that people have asked for on the forums.

Since a PSU is a critical component in a PC, and can literally kill the rest of the box if it's bad quality, brand is EVERYTHING - shiny paint is nothing. In the absence of a schematic + friendly electrical engineer's evaluation, or accurate empirical results... going for a proven, solid brand, as well as the less scientific method of going by weight (on the theory that the requisite inductors + heatsinks needed for a good design are heavy) are all we have.

I do remember hearing one person claim that theirs failed on them and took the rest of the system with it, but other than that anecdote, I wouldn't buy it because it's a flashy, gimicky brand that hasn't been around for a long time.

My personal bias is towards:
Antec (Truepower, not Smartpower)
Enermax/Topower
Fortron/Sparkle
PC Power and Cooling
Seasonic
TTGI
OCZ
Zalman

I have one of them and its about the best looking case out there. Its a little crampt for my taste though so i'm moving into a CM Praetorian.
 
I think it looks decent for the amount of money it costs, only 5 mins. till X-HOUR!!!
 
The case is fine, it is basically a Antec Sonata or whatever with a brushed aluminum door. If you don't like the PCI card retainer, you can just take it out.


The PSU you picked sucks. It has been tested that under load it will fail. Basically, take any cheap PSU out there, chrome plate it, put the quick connects on it, then charge 100 bucks, and that is what you have.
Get a Fortron or Sparkle.
 
If you want a modular PSU then i would get an OCZ PowerStream or Antec NeoPower. Both are very high quality. The OCZ PowerStream is also one of the best out there.
 
this is all standard, albeit low-quality stuff you've listed. i do concur with other members who commented on this thread: get a better PSU, as it is critical to your system's stability. i recoomend Enermax (pricy, but awesome quality) or Antec (cheaper, but almost as good).

as far as the case, everyone's got their tastes, and i guess yours likes that case... i myself have been partial to Lian-Li's ever since they came out. i have had a PC-65B (black mid-tower, no window) for almost 3 years now, and i love it. it's been extensively modded, but you can still tell it's a Lian-Li. :) CoolerMaster is another prime choice.

i tell you this: once you get your case, you're more or less stuck with it, especially when you start modding it, and for the sake of this forum, i hope you do. changing cases once they are modded is a PIA. get something you REALLY like, even if it costs more. the extra expense will be justified down the road.
 
The exterior of the case looks good, however I'm goign to have to go with the rest and say that the interior of these things are usually pretty cramped.. and unless you hate airfllow I'd get a different case.
 
Airflow is not a problem, it has a 120mm in the front and a 120mm in the back.
 
Just don't get the tsunami with the window. They r ulgy get a new unmodded tsunami and do it yourself. I have a tsunami an i like it, little thin but very well done in my opinion. Also I have an xconnect, its doing good. Ur choice, I have had no problems but it was the only pre made modular psu when i bought it so right now I would get the antec neopower.
 
Don't forget about Zippy for a rock solid PSU.They are highly acclaimed in the server world where reliabilty is ever so important. They make the PSU's for PCP&C.
 
i really dont understand everyones dislike to the x connect, it seems like a fine power supply and all the reviews have said the same. Noted its not THE BEST but its the only all modular psu out there for the price (and i do mean all modular as opposed to the other two that just have molex and others modulated). But please dont get that case premodded, it looks as good as the "alien head" wannabe case, if your heart is set on it get it unmodded. There is a coolmaster case just like it and 10x better looking.
 
I'd like that case if it weren't for that hideous side panel/window..
 
Get the Tsunami. The airflow is among the best with the 2x 120mm fans and the side fan and the temps will stay low. There is room enough for hiding excess wiring on the side of the mounting racks and it will look clean. You'll only have a problem with space if you decide to mount more than 3 HDD and have a 6800 Ultra.
