So, this is more of a "just wondering" kind of thing, but how do people on Ebay and such sites sell microsoft software for so cheap? Most of them definetely don't portray themselves as businesses, so I'm assuming they buy their software bulk overseas (or they fell out of the truck)...but isn't that resale "against the law" somehow? Or is it not really because it's the grey market instead of the black market?

Just wondering.

There are a few reasons. Some software that comes from Asia is cheap because it's cheap to sell to them. Companies base their price on what is resonable for the market. US pays more because we have more money. Also, buying directly from Microsoft, you're going to pay the MSRP where a company like Newegg or maybe someone on eBay can buy bulk and make less much per item. Everyone prices differently. I would recommend only buying new software on eBay though.

eBay software is cheaper because its often pirated.
Maybe some is but I doubt 'often/most' is.

Yeah, I only buy new, still factory-sealed from sellers with good ratings and return windows. It just amazed me that Microsoft doesn't seem to pursue these people. Not that I care, they supply me with cheap software!
Thanks!
