buying OEM vs retail

Hi, all
I am going to buy a wd caviar 250 gb sata drive and right now I have two options: buying the bare drive over the internet or buying the retail package at the store. The difference in price is about 25 dollars. Is there anything that comes with the retail package that would make it worth the extra 25 bucks? The necessary cables are much cheaper than that, but I was wondering about software/extras...
 
Retail versions purchased at stores generally offer less warranty... usually 1 year. You might want to check up on it if you are concern with warranty...
 
with retail, you pay pay for the cable, the install cd, instruction manuel and a pretty box. cables are cheap, and the software and instructions can be downloaded or viewed off of a website. with oem, you lose a little of that 25 dollar savings in shipping and tax, but you still get some drives much cheaper than you ever would in retail, at leasr right now. i know that a 200 gig maxtor with 8 meg cache would cost me 129 bucks at bestbuy, but the same drive in OEM would only cost me 85 on newegg, a bit over 96 after tax and shipping.
 
With HDDs you can safely go OEM, unless there is a warrenty difference. Cables come with mobo (or you already have extra), the software on the disk can be downloaded for free.
