Buying new CPU/Mobo/Ram

I'm at work currently, but I will answer all of these and any further questions to the best of my ability atm.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$600 roughly. Will go a little more if it's worth it, would obviously favor saving money though if possible.

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Utah, US

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, Mobo and Ram. If I can get these part for under my budget then I'd like to buy a new case also because I dislike mine, but it's not a priority.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Everything except what I'm buying, so: Video Card, Hard Drive, etc.
My PSU is "1000 Watt Extreme Power Supply", I'm sorry if that's not specific enough, I can get you a make and model in a few hours if necessary.

6) Will you be overclocking?
Not a requirement, but I will for performance assuming I don't have overheating problems.

7) 7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
1600x1200, 22"

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
ASAP - today/tomorrow/soon

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
USB 3.0 and SLI would be nice.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes. Win7 64bit.



I was looking at the CPU/Mobo deals on NewEgg but I'm not sure what I'm looking at as far as Mobo's go.

Get the name and model number of that PSU. The fact that it has "Extreme" in the name is cause for concern as that's rarely a good sign.

Ok I'm home and pulled the computer apart. I can't find a model or serial on the PSU anywhere, no sticker, no label, nothing. I purchased it from iBuyPower and when I pull up the receipt from a few years ago it simply says:

"[= Gaming Edition =] 1000 Watt Extreme Power Supply [Gaming Series] --- Quad SLI + Active PFC + 80 Plus Ready"

I tried to find it on NewEgg or through Google with no luck, the one thing I did notice though is that it has circular connections whereas everything I'm seeing online doesn't.

Hmmm. Having a "no-name" PSU is a little disconcerting. As far as efficiency, 80 plus is not terrible, but not great. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80_Plus

I just would be afraid of the thing dying and taking components with it. Then again, I might just be paranoid. I would probably just keep the single 570 and get a different ~$100 to $150 PSU that is 80 plus gold or bronze. You won't need a kilowatt supply, just a 650W or so good one. You might even have enough left over to spend $100 or so on a new case.

Yeah it's from iBuypower. They have a history of using subpar parts. Definitely not trust-worthy. Luckily a replacement PSU isn't that expensive:
$125 - Seasonic X650 Gold 650W Modular PSU

As for the motherboard and RAM, the mobo + RAM deal that Liger88 posted is a pretty damn good deal. No need to get the second set since 8GB of RAM should be enough for a gaming setup.

As for the CPU, the Core i5 3570 is not worth it. The Core i5 3470 is more cost-effective:
$189 - Intel Core i5-3470 CPU

Now for your future SLI plans, I wouldn't bother for two reasons:
1) You're only gaming at 1600x1200. Not an absurdly high resolution
2) You'd still be limited about the 1280MB of VRAM on the GTX 570 should you upgrade to a larger resolution monitor.

In other words, you're better off getting a new card with 2GB of VRAM like the GTX 660 TI, GTX 670 2GB, or HD 7950 2GB.
