I'm wondering if any forum members have advice on where to buy hardware in Canada. I'm specifically located in Toronto.

It seems like there are often great deals online in the US, but when you factor in shipping and duty those don't end up being great deals.

Specifically I want to buy a Radeon 9800 Pro (ATI being a Canadian company!) You'd think I could find a good deal here.

Lowest price I have found so far is $339 CDN for a 128 meg 9800 pro.

To latch on to the thread, has anyone found any 6800 (hopefully 6800GTs) available in Canada? The closest thing I have found is an $840 preorder for the MSI 6800 Ultra, which is absolutely ridiculous ($633 US at current exchange rates) on NCIX. The X800s seem to be a dime a dozen, but the 6800 aren't even available to preorder from most places.

I'm going nuts right now, I'm running a radeon 9000 on a 3.6ghz P4.

If you order stuff from American internet sites that ship using DHL you only pay about $13 dollars CAN extra in shipping to get stuff across the border, plus whatever tax you might owe on your item. No matter what, you can't avoid paying both GST and PST, so... sorry if you thought you might be able to.

DHL is a great company though because all you really have to do is convert the US price to CAN, add 15% (or whatever) and then add another $15 dollars for admin fees. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT ever use UPS or FedEx (actually... not sure about FedEx) because they charge OBSCENE customs brokerage fees.

EDIT: Also, www.pccanada.com has Radeon 9800 pros (made by ATi) in stock for $325. A bit of a better deal. Downside is you have to pick it up, but you said you were in Toronto so... pccanada is actually my preferred retailer in T.O.
