Hi, I have a stylus 300 that i really like, and im looking to replace it with a camera that has more manual features, 5mp, and a good supermacro. I already have a 256xD card so it would be nice to get a camera that can use it. I was thinking about getting the Olympus 5050. Is that a wise choice? Thanks for your help.

Nikon 4500 is probably your best choice.

Those are some nice shots. But there's nothing there couldn't be done with a $150 Canon A60.

Do some research on the Fuji s7000. It is great for macro shots, and can use your xd card. It is 6MP, but has some new technology that allows it to shoot at 12MP.

I admit I hate xD, but my rationale still stands.
Do not let the xD format limit your camera choices for the following reason.
You have a 256mb xD card. You can sell this card for about $70 on ebay.
With that $70 you can buy a 256mb CF card and you'll have change left over.
Basically, because xD is so expensive, you will make money by switching memory formats to either compact flash or secure digital.
So it while it seems intuitive to stick with the same memory format since you already have some xD cards, it makes less sense to stick with the same format in this case. Even moreso, with a 5 or 6mp camera you are likely to buy even more memory since the images take up more space. Thus, getting a camera that takes a standard format will make you an even more wealthy person.

My mistake I thought you were going to "replace" the stylus, as in you were not going to keep it.
I have an Olympus C-5060WZ right now and it takes excellent shots. I would recommend it over the C-5050 as it has a rechargeable battery pack and it has a wide angle lens.
Only downside is that I get some chromatic aberration depending on the subject...

The thing is I used to have an Olympus camera. The landscapes and inanimate objects were fine, but when I took pictures of people you really noticed allot of grain in the images and the skintones were not right. However downsized to 800x600 they looked fine. But the full sized shots had grain which would show up when you make larger prints.
So yeah if you have some _full sized_ shots of people that would be great as I want to see if Olympus has improved in their more recent cameras.

10D or no 10D, doesnt matter as far as CA goes... you SHOULD have said, "Canon L lenses here I come!"
