Hey guys for as low as 221$ right now you can get a sapphire radeon 9800PRO. Best bang for the buck right now... but I am wondering 2 things...
The sapphire radeon9800pro has been price dropping more frequently than the other cards... I know it was around 250$, dropped to 230, now 220... I was wondering is about to take another hit in price? I don't want to order this and see it going for 200$ a week later :(

Another question is, what is the best brand of memory for the radeon 9800PRO? Samsung?

It'll probably drop more when the next generation cards come out later this year.

i dunno about a weekly price drop, but as soon as the r420 is out the price will drop way below what it is now.
as for the memory, i have no idea

I hope it'll drop a lot below $200 but i'm not so sure, I wouldnt imagine ATi will drop the card below a price where they get below 30% margin.

No, I seriously doubt that.

Nvidia has nothing to compete.

When are these next-gen cards coming out? If its like fall/winter I might as well just get the card now..

the longer you wait on any hardware, the cheaper it will get - my guess is as good as yours as to when. my 9800pro uses hynix mem, got it from newegg a couple weeks ago, upgraded from a ti200. the day after i ordered the card the price went from 229 to 224, and i honestly don't care. this card makes everything run butter smooth... its worth every penny, especially at this price point.

if losing 10-20 bucks because you didnt wait anohter day, or week, or month really bothers you, then wait. if you are upgrading from an old card, i'd say live alittle and just get the damn thing. realistically, you'll be too busy playing games amazed at how they look and run to bother checking how much the card is selling for once it's in your box.

Just buy the damn card and enjoy high framerates NOW. I don't get these "should I buy" posts.
Shit or get off the pot MANN!

What more could we say to you but:

[response 1]...wait on the new (insert chipset model here) because it's gonna PwN!

[response 2]...why by that card when you could get (insert other brand name here) because it overclocks better.

[responce 3]...my (insert chipset model here) gets (insert impossible number here) 3dMarks and it Pwns.

I "*HEART*" my Radeon 9800 AIW.

You better jump on it now...I was gonna get a FX5900nu to go in a second box a couple weeks ago when the BFG could be had for $158 at a decent retailer and now the lowest price is about $175.

Try like $500 for the NV40. Same for the R420. Premium price for premium hardware, goes with the territory. The question of how PCI Express and AGP will pan out this year is what im wondering...

If you keep waiting on the price to drop the next gen comes out. Then you don't want to spend that much money on an "old" card, so you wait for the new stuff to drop. And you end up with a 6 yr old system that was "top of the line" 7 yrs ago.

Card won't go much cheaper than 200. Ati is trying to move as quickly as possible to having a card for every segment and not selling their older flagships cheap. They will probably go extinct like 9700pro's. They cost too much to make. Cards like the 9600 came out because they hate making expensive cards like 9500pro's. They have a full line now. They are sitting pretty.

I say step up and order the card. But Don't drop the dime on the XT. Imagine the price drop THAT will have when the new ATI core comes out.

buy the 9800 pro and enjoy the hell outta it.

then when the "next next generation" comes out you'll be all set.
