I need a new monitor for FPS, BF4 mostly. Budget is $300-500.

I really do not see anything I like other than that Asus MG279Q Freesync. I have a 290 DD.

That is about it for a high quality 144hz IPS right? I know about the acer but I want as high quality and clear a screen as I can afford. Really don't want to play monitor roulette.

Any reason to think something better is coming out in the next few months or should I just try and find a deal on the Asus?
 
There is the PG279Q and a 100hz 21:9 asus monitor coming out soon. What's likely to come out next year is more gaming IPS panels perhaps a couple of decent VAs until the next gen of GPUs with dp 1.3 and HDR so we'll start seeing 21:9 1440p that run at 144hz and 4k monitors at 120hz (I think) + HDR tech. So if you're not looking for 21:9 or 4k the only reason to wait right now would be for the new gaming IPS monitors to lower in price.
 
PG279Q doesn't really have much on MG279Q, especially since he will be adding $100 or so and losing FreeSync.

Unfortunately it seems the big brands are all either concentrating their FreeSyncs on their 4k range, or I have missed some, but MG279Q is the only 1440p 144hz IPS I can see. There are other TN options incase you are interested. Acer's high refresh IPS panels are all G-Sync, no FreeSyncs, and LG has not yet produced any high refresh IPS panels, neither have Samsung IIRC.

EDIT: My bad, turns out there is another IPS 1440p 144hz FreeSync: XF270HU.

This is, according to PCpartpicker, all of the currently available FreeSync 1440p 144hz monitors. Only MG279Q and XF270HU are IPS, the other 4 are all TN.
 
Yeah there is really just two IPS Freesyncs w 144hz. I doubt the price will change much in the next few months.
 
There is also the Eizo FS2735 coming out soon which will have a different blur reduction technology. It might be (overall) slightly better than current IPS gaming panels, but not necessarily.

The 2016 product lineups they show off usually launch shortly after. For example acer revealed its XB270HU (27" ips gsync) at CES and it was available 2 months later in march.

I would say wait 3 weeks for CES and read up on all the monitor news. You can then tell if there is something good coming soon worth waiting for or if nothing sounds good then you know buying soon is fine because nothing else is around the corner.
