Buy or wait

I decided to finally upgrade my 8800gt and I am thinking of getting a 5850. Are there any upcoming cards in the near future, like in 3 months or so, that are worth to wait or should I go for it? I only game @1680x1050 if it matters.

I'm curious if ATI is really going to have some new stuff out this Fall or if it's going to be Spring like the rumors say.

Rumor has it that ATI will be releasing the 6000 series cards sometime around September. However Bing Cash Back ends by the end of this month. So you can buy a card now with some money back and enjoy gaming goodness or wait a few months and then possibly a few more months.

I would do the upgrade. An 8800GT to 5850 is a big upgrade. You'll notice the performance.

I'd wait a month to see if the GTX460 forces AMD to cut its prices on the 5850.

At your given resolution, if you are not interested in DX11, an ATI 4890 or a GTX 285 would be more than enough, and very cheap used. I have a 4890 VaporX 2 GB in my daughter's computer and it tears through any game. She has a 1680 x 1050 22' monitor.

As for brand new, the 5850 would be excellent, cool running and lower power consumption than the 470.

I am still using a ATI 4870X2 and am running all my games at full res.

Upgrade now its already a big jump, I don't see any reason to wait.
