I have a case that i dont like. I want a side panel on it and make some holes for fans. i think i have to paint it too.
should i go through all those trouble or should i just buy a cheap one that already have a side panel and holes for fans.
please give me some suggestions i have a bugdet around 35 bucks

thanks

is there a side panel with a window for sale seperately for your case? i know for my CM centurion 5 they sell em seperately for around 30 bucks. If you have the tools, best is to just cut your own, and buy a small sheet of plexi at home depot. As for painting, depends on how good you want it to look, you can get cheap stuff like rustoleum and coat it a few times prolly cost you an addtional 15 bucks.

I was thinking about painting my case myself. With all the sand paper, block, primer, base coat, high quality paint, clear coat plus extra tools for prep its gonna cost me like 60 bucks.

i have a cause that is quite old so i dont think they sell a seperate side panel for it.
does any one kno where i can get a case that has a side panel and is around 35 bucks
i want to check it out

thanks

You got any pics of it or what case is it? I'd love to give you ideas on what you can do to it but I do know some cases are just plain crap and no amount of paint, lights or hacking can redeem it (unless you have the skill of that guy who made the Doom case or the like) but im thinking you aren't wanting to go that far.

ok i am down with modding my case. i kno how to do the side panel but how do i make the hole for the fan

thanks

i think i am goin to need a lot of help on modding my case do u guys kno where i can ask question about modding cases?

what's the point of modding if you can just buy the case. why go to all the trouble when you aren't really doing anything special to the case in the first place.

the thing is that i dont want to spend too much money on a case but i still want a cool case. i already bought two lights and 3 fans. so do u (SpangeMonkee ) have any suggestion? any cheap cases?

holes for fans? get a hole saw (depending on a 120,90,80mm) then for the holes for the screws, you can either measure it out by drawing lines, or just place ur fan grill and mark it where it lands. If a hole saw is too much u can use a dremel but its hard to get the initial cut clean.

Hey if you are one of them guy's that dont like to use your hands to create something you can be proud of (whether or not it's "special" in the eyes of the masses) then by all means buy a prefab. I personally love the idea of cutting holes in my case as well as windows on top and on the mobo side w/graphics laid IN and good lighting to show off those graphics.

HOWEVER, buying a hole saw will set you back 30 bucks including the pilot. Then you have top buy acrylic or plexi, which you can get at Home Depot for less than 17 bucks. If you own a Jig saw then you can use that, just buy the blade and let the saw do the cutting. Depending on what you do with your case you will spend the same amount of money modding your own or buying one IMO. Probably more than buying a really crap case.

It may be more but you'll love the fact that you customized it yourself.

Im sure we all have tons of ideas to cram in your brain should you get the mod bug!!
