buy draft-n or wait for finalized version

Hello. I have a confusing situation. Basically, I want to set up a wireless network in my house. I need to put the router in the basement so that it can be directly connected to my desktop. I'm going to buy a laptop soon, so I want to get signal coverage on the first floor, second floor and patio outside. I'm guessing the only routers powerful enough to do this are the new draft-n routers (unless someone thinks there are any g routers out there that can handle this). My question is, should I get a draft-n router now or should I wait till the n has been finalized? I'm basically worried that the draft-n router I get may not be compatible with the finalized version, eventhough most people say the draft-n routers will only need a simple firmware update. And I'm also worried that the new finalized n-routers that come out will be better than the draft-n routers in terms of speed and signal strength (is this true?). But the problem of waiting for the finalized n-router is that no one seems to know when they're going to be released. Does anyone have any idea about this or if I should just go ahead and buy a draft-n?

Thanks, any help would be appreciated!

Get it now....from experience in setting up quite a few...the better *N wireless will faaaaaar outrange G....even blow the doors off of DD-WRT cranked up G.

You'll be waiting for a long time (probably near 2 years) for it to become official..products to hit shelves...and then revisions and firmware maturing on official N...etc.

Even when N becomes official..it's not like any pre-N/draft-N routers will STOP working..they'll still continue to work just fine. And....more and more models now will most likely be able to be upgraded with official N firmware when it comes out.

Even if not...by the time N becomes official...waaay down the road..if you need to get it for some reason...they're certainly cheap enough to figure them as disposable units every few years.

Thanks alot for the advice YeOldeStonecat! I'm going to start looking into the best n-routers out there so that I can buy one now.

Thanks again!
