Hey guys,

So I'm ready to buy a BFG GTX260 Maxcore OC.

Now, I know the PC world is an overchanging arena of upgrades where there is always something coming around the corner but it'd be really annoying if something new comes out less than 4 weeks after I buy a shiney new expensive card.

So - do I wait a month or do I buy the 260 now? Whats this I hear about 270's?

Get what you need now, there will always be something around the corner. Your best bet would be to buy from EVGA and you can step-up if something new comes around in 90 days. That's how I went from a 9800GTX > GTX 260.

I'm in the UK where our prices suck and board availability sucks even harder. The EVGA Core216's are about $400 here.

What card do you have now, and at what resolution do you game at? I'm asking because there would be no point to upgrade if you're in the same boat as i am. (i game at 1680x1050 w/ an 8800gts overclocked to 800mhz). Runs every current game at max (except CRYsis), so there's no point of upgrading.

I'm running an 8800GT and I game at 1680x1050. I'd like to upgrade so I can run the next generation of games (Far Cry 2 etc) perfectly without hassle.

Yep, one of the reasons I havent taken the plunge and upgraded from my 8800.
They are taking the piss.

unless it is absolutely important for you to max out the settings on FarCry 2, I would suggest just waiting it out. Prices can only fall, and at the resolution you game at, it doesn't seem like it is imperative that you upgrade your 8800gt. Save yourself the $200-$250, and perhaps try overclocking your 8800gt for the meantime.

FC2 is not going to be the hog Crysis was/is. You might be able to pull off some 1680 gaming with med-high details. Assuming you've got at least 3Ghz of cpu. Getting a 260 now isn't a waste but there is a chance the next wave of cards is going to have DX11 features, maybe
