Bust Usb Flash Drive

I have a 512 mb flash disk that i'm having problems with, it reports that there is a single file on the drive, a publisher file, but it wont let me delete it or put any other file onto the drive.
I have tried formatting it with windows.The drive was being used on both a mac and PC before it broke.
other than just blaming it on evil publisher(not my file by the way), any suggestions?
