Hi lads,

since I may have some free time this weekend and I am getting my new case this week, I want to finally put my WC system together.

I have: Swiftech Storm block

I was considering to get the Apex Ultra kit and selling the Apogee Block
-or-
buying parts.

Since I do not own a drill, and the case I bought already has holes for a rear mounted radiator, I want to get something like the Radbox to mount my radiator outside. Is there anything similar from other manufacturer's besides swiftech? If so, how much and where do I get it from.

I can get a D4 pump for ~$60 from a forum member. Is that a good deal? Should I get the D5 or MCP655 (whatever the swiftech one is called) instead?

Would you generally recommend a specific store?

PS.: No TN, I am not getting Aquacomputer stuff, I do not have that kind of cash.

thanks, but that does not answer the D4 vs D5 vs MCP655 pump question. I am also looking for a 120.2 rad.
 
I don't know of any other manufacturer that makes a "spacer" (my word) like the Swiftech's radbox. But you don't neccessarily have to buy the radbox to moun your rad outside your case. The whole idea behind the radbox is to get he radiator away from the case a little bit to help with airflow and cooling. You could get the same effect by using long bolts and/or a shim to create the space. The advantage of the radbox is that it adds some structural stability to hanging your rad out there as compared to just long bolts like I mentioned.

As for your pumps, either one should work well in a basic wc setup (CPU, GPU). Do a search for D4 pumps on eBay to see if $60 is a good price or not...

I like Performance PC and FrozenCPU for my modding gear.

I figured that I should just recycle my thread with more, new questions:

1. I read that the order of components does not 'really' matter, hence my planned layout:

Res->Pump->MCW60->Storm->Rad->Res will be fine, right? I am just afraid of the MCW60 screwing with my CPU temps.

2. I read some people flushing their system? Am I supposed to do this when I first install it, i.e. brand new tubing? Or is this only when I need to change the coolant? I am planning to use MCT-5.

1. Yes that order should work great so long as it makes for nice simple routing of the tubing.

2. You shouldnt need to flush the loop before you install stuff. Everything should come pretty clean, though I would check the MCW60 for shavings before installing it. If you get a heatercore type radiator you sometimes want to clean out the radiator first because sometimes there can be dirt inside of it.
