Bulletstorm... Thoughts?!?!

Only conversations on the Epic forums from mods and such. Even if it didn't sky rocket into huge sales , Epic knew it was a gamble. I'm almost positive it'll get a sequel , its not like Epic is short on cash flow.

I would like to see an updated sales figure but there doesn't seem to be any information about it on Google. Probably will have to wait for NPDs.

I hope that it will get a sequel too but like I said, it would only because Epic can afford it. The game was 7th on the February NPD and didn't even register on the March one. The kind of start it got doesn't bode well for a multimillion selling franchise which is what Epic would have wanted/expected.

Looks like Bulletstorm will be 50% off on Sunday at D2D.

Damn, I wish they had offered it for the start of the long weekend instead of midway through. Still, I think I'll bite on this.

No it won't activate on Steam. In fact, it won't even activate on the EA download manager like all other EA games do... this is because the cd key is actually a 25 digit GFWL key, not the standard 20 digit cd key that EA uses.

Here's how to fix the FOV in Bulletstorm

1) Go here and download the miniscule editor called: BulletStormINIeditor.exe http://forums.n4g.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=906299&mpage=1#906299

2) Run the editor and open the file titled StormCamera, which you'll find in User - Documents - My Games - BulletStorm - SormGame - Config

3) You'll see that the default FOV is set to 85. I like it at 110. Quite nice.

Bulletstorm looks way, way, way better with a wider FOV. But why in the name of Socrates do we always have to go through this nonsense? I mean, does anybody like the default FOV? I bet we could do a poll or something, and the vast majority of people would prefer a wider FOV. So why not provide a slider for that?

Do these guys even read the forums?

50% off on D2D this weekend sounds like a good deal. Does anyone know if the key will work for Steam activation?

I nabbed the demo the other day and it was pretty fun. :)

Just a reminder. It might be more than 50%. Don't tell anybody, but coupon codes have beens stacking at D2D. They say that their coupons don't stack, but they do. I think it's an error that they don't know about yet.

I'm guessing that because of the Easter Weekend, D2D will have another 20% sale, so stack that with the 50% deal on Sunday.

I'm down for this on Sunday. Too many positive posts in this thread for me to pass on this. It'll be five dollars at Christmas, but I might be dead by then... er.

The demo is nothing close to the full game!!! :D

I'm downloading it right now - glad I held out for the sale.

Got tomorrow off, so I might pull a late nighter tonight, and see how far I can get. (It's cold and rainy too - perfect for gaming.) Completely unrelated, but I can't believe how rapidly I lost my desire to play Crysis 2. I loved the first two hours, but then suddenly there were aliens everywhere, it was raining all the time, the city was all ripped apart and no longer interesting, and I had no idea what I was doing, or why. I thought, when I started out, that Crysis 2 was going to blow me away, but it just didn't happen.

The previous FPS game I finished was Singularity. I rarely finish titles - even short ones - so it says something when I finish one. Singularity was never great, but somehow it kept me going.

I'm hoping Bulletstorm will provide a similar experience. I'll post back later on maybe and let you know what I think.

Okay, here are my 'early' thoughts:

I installed Bulletstorm last night, and discvered that GFWL was required to play.

This was Easter Sunday, by the way, which for some individuals is a day of religious festivity and spiritual contemplation. Not for me it wasn't. For me, yesterday was a day of torment and frustration as I wrestled for three and a half hours with fucking GFWL. I could have watched The Ten Commandments and had a nap in that amount of time. Instead I spent most of my evening Googling my problem and also hitting my head against the wall and screaming obscenities at the top of my lungs.

The problem was this. GFWL wanted to check the date and time with a time server to make certain that I wasn't attempting to unlock Bulletstorm early, even though this game is now more than one month old.

Simple, right?

Wrong.

GFWL insisted that I wasn't connected to the net, and refused to launch Bulletstorm. The fact that I Googled the problem, and that I actually did get suggestions, was indicative to me that I was, in fact, connected to the net. The pop up message, however, refused to go away, so one by one I began to follow the procedures taken by those sad individuals who had come before me and attempted to solve this peachy little problem - this involved opening various communications ports, banging my head against the wall for five minutes in the hope that this was all just a bad dream and that I would suddenly wake up and find myself lying naked in bed with Pamela Anderson, flushing my DNS cache, getting out the sharpest knife I could find and contemplating seppuku (which for for those of you not in the know is self-disembowelment, and possibly a more enjoyable way to spend your Easter Sunday), creating a new user account in Vista and giving it administrative rights, and finally, this old chestnut... re-installing Vista itself... which, by the way, I didn't do... I seriously believe that I would rather have committed seppuku... it astonishes me that Microsoft doesn't have a little guide for this at their support forum.

Long story short, I'm kind of pissed off right now. Bulletstorm was supposed to be the game I was going to play for the final two days of this long weekend. Now my Monday is melting away... like dog shit on the sidewalk on the hottest day of the year.

Thinking about going down to the village for coffee, and maybe picking up a whore on the way home. I'll let you know how it goes later on. Yeah, whatever. So great to be a PC gamer.
