Built-in vs. add-in for games?

I found an article on tomshardware dated from 2003, so I don't know if it's still accurate anymore. It said that built-in sound can slow down games because it's using the MB CPU, and benchmarks with add-in sound cards showed the add-in cards were slightly faster. I have a new asus p4p800-deluxe with an 8-channel ALC850 chip built in, and an older audigy 1 sound card. Should I bother to use the audigy? thanks.

I downloaded some off Emule the other day.
And?

My experience with the Audigy 4 drivers went something like this:
After screwing around with them for a day I said screw these busted drivers and went back to the haxored Audigy 2 ZS drivers. ;)

Oh. I just burned the necessary stuff to a CD and sent it off as a bonus with the Audigy 1 I sold. I didn't actually try them. ;)
