I remember reading that the Klipsch Promedia 2.1's headphone jack is amplified. If I were to get some 50 dollar Grado Headphones... would I need an amp if I were plugging the headphones into my speakers?

Grados are known for the low impedance and crisp, upfront sound right out of a headphone jack. The amplifier on speakers doesn't really have any real effect anyways.
 
an AMP will help if you had High End cans

but an amp will always help
