Soundstorm really only signifies that it has the Digital capabilities [Soundstorm is the digital part of the board] The analog outputs still use the 650 chip.. however, it still sounds great.
Most of the deluxe versions of the nForce2 motherboard should have the 6-channel analogue output. I have an older version of the Asus A7N8X Deluxe and use the analogue outputs with both my Klipsch speakers and Grado headphones.. sounds great. Have had no need to put my Audigy card in the system.
As mc_P mentioned, It seems that most of the motherboards these days has 6-channel sound onboard.
awesome, i just bought the logitech z640s and learned that neither my current motherboard or sound card support even 5.1. its about time to upgrade my motherboard anyways so ill have to make sure i get onboard 5.1 at least. till then im stuck with only 3.1
This is getting a little rediculous..
Look at the other question about 5.1 audio that have been recenty posted.. there are explanation of what soundstorm is.. This will be like the 4th live thread to talk about it. The search feature of the forum is working.. use it. Too many people asking questions before researching.
Also, search nVidia about soundstorm.. it will explain. I posted a link in one of the other threads.
