Putting it all together soon and am wondering if there are any tips for my first computer that I'm putting together myself? Asus AN8 SLI premium, opty 170, raptor boot and game, wd 250gig for files and storage, 1gig corsair 3200, 7800GT, 500W Phantom PSU, SB X-fi. Have a fresh copy of XP I'm gonna use. Couple of the main questions are...

Gonna put things I wanna keep from my raptor to my storage drive now cause I'm using them, then install XP onto the raptor fresh. Should I erase the raptor before the first boot or just boot from the CD and install XP over all the old stuff? If it's erase first whats the easy way to do that?

Is there a way to check that everything is working before I install everything and attempt to boot and install win xp? Meaning if I have everything in but HD's I should be able to get into BIOS just fine, correct?

I have more but I'm sure I wont remember them till I'm in the process lol. Thanks.

You will be able to format your raptor drive from the Windows XP install. Double check you backed up all the files you need :D, and there is no need to delete the files before starting the WinXP install.

Oh yeah, most likely all your hardware is going to be working fine if you are able to boot off your CD-rom and get the Windows XP install started. Although you could goto into your BIOS to make sure that your drives are recoginized, and your CPU is the right speed. You can also see your amount of RAM during bootup.

I'm mostly worried about the PSU. Heard it's a great PSU but that several have gotten some DOA. Anyway to just check it? lol

may i suggest to reformat the drive first before installing a fresh OS? don't just install the new OS on the old one, it's the right way to do.
