around 1000-1500$ usd
$1500 will get you a good system. Does he need mouse/keyboard/monitor? Case? Power supply? Details help, but you're off to a good start.

All he needs is
Motherboard
Cpu
Ram
GFX card

and i sugested the above to him, he is not an overclocker

Dang! With $1500 and only those, he can get a blazing fast rig:

Power Supply (need a SLI compatible one) - $119
Motherboard - $210
Processor - $268
Memory - $87
Video cards (two of these) - $758

Total - $1443

That gets you an SLI rig. If you want to aim for the $1000 price mark instead of the $1500, just take off a video card and add it later on. Also, you can zap off the second video card should you want a better CPU/more RAM. Gets you a free 128MB USB thumb drive to boot. Should get him set for a while.

Make sure he is reusing a good power supply that it 24pin native. High-end systems require high end PSU's, and all NF4 boards require ATX 2.0 24 pin PSU's. sac_tagg linked to a good one. For the love of god don't skimp on the power supply.

Sli PSU, i did not know that, cant i just get a standart 500w psu ?

a standard ATX 2.0 24pin PSU, pci-express uses a different Powersupply standard than was normal even 6 months ago. "SLI" power supplies have 2 video card connectors, and standard ATX 2.0 power supplies have 1 video card connector. Either way, both are 24pin and you'll need one.

ATX2 is that the one with the extra 4pin motherboard stick
if so sould i just get one of those at 500 W ?

No, ATX2.0 is the one with a 24pin Main connector and a 4pin P4 connector. your thinking ATX 1.3 which has a 20pin connector then the 4 pin connector to the motherboard.

anyone know a place where i can see pictures of the diffrence, cause im a bit confused

damm , need to place an order for a new psu
or the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe wont run

Again, Wattage is irrelvant. A system with 1 Venice 3200+, 2 6800 GTs, 1 7200 RPM hard disk and optical drive requires around 15A maximum. Any reliable-branded supply (Antec, Enermax, Thermaltake, Fortron, SeaSonic, PC Power and Cooling, OCZ .. will do fine. And you do not need a '24 pin native' one, you can just as easily use a 20 pin one and an adapter and it will do just fine. The belief that this causes stability problems is a myth. In fact, most boards are entirely stable with the last 4 pins left unfilled, believe it or not.

Add up your system's 12v rail using the charts on this page and make a supply choice accordingly. Incidentally, Antec's True430 supply offers 26A on the +12v rail and is far more than sufficient for even an SLI system like was spec'ed in this thead. And it's a mere $65 and dead silent.

You can grab an adapter for $5.
