1 gig 2700 (samsung)
asus mobo av8x7
300 PSU
9800 pro 128
120 HD 7200 maxtor
16x dvd burner lite-on
16x dvd player (lite-on)
Lian Li mild tower with 1 120mm and 4 80mm fans

OK I want to build a new PC,I was thinking of AMD 64 3500 CPU,1 gig 400 ddr,6800 gt 256 pci and asus mobo and 500 PSU.

I need help picking what 3500 cpu to get there 2 different kinds what one is better?
2. What kind of ram is really good for a AMD 64 3500 (overclocking)
3, What mobo should i get thats good for OC'ing that has PCI and AGP lock on it.(maybe SLI)Ive had get luck with Asus mobo's.
4. IS SLI worth getting or should I stick with AGP?
5. What a good PSU for all this hardware?
And if i missed anything telling what,so can get that too.
Hopfully this with last a 2 years(hehehe) before next upgrade.
thanks

1: the winchester core (the only 90nm chip atm) is far better
2: almost anything based on TCCD. g.skill pc4400 definitly wins, hands down.
3: you have 3 options.. asus a8n-sli, dfi lanprty nf4, or the msi k8n neo4. i'd go with the msi after reading reviews on all 3 boards.
4: i'd say sli is worth it if you want to keep your base system and just add a second video card when games start becoming too much for your single 6800gt... if you want to replace the cpu too, an agp or single pci-e 16x board will do.
5: ocz powerstream. i have the 420, and it works well for the system in my sig. you may want more though, esp if you get sli.

Well here goes,..

Feel free to correct:

1)Winchester
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-498&depa=1
2) Corsair, Kingston, Mushkin. Heard those were all great. I have Corsair myself.
3) MSI K8N Neo 2 is a great Board if you want AGP. If you go SLi, [H] Just reviewed both the new MSI and DFI boards, both of which sound very nice. (Check out the front page)
4) Meh, depends on how much you want to spend. I personally (owning a 6800NU/AGP8X) can't see a huge justification in me buying 2 300-400 dollars video cards for a couple more frames a second. :-\ Personally, since you seem to be more inclided to newer technology :) I'd just say go with any board with a PCI-e slot, and stick a 6800GT/Ultra in it. It'll meet all your gaming needs.
5) ----. No clue brand wise :( But I'd say a 400-500W would be advisable.

2 Years?! Haha, I keep my systems for years and years. The last one I had was since 9th grade, and I just updated my comp for college!

feel free to correct me

1- winchester
2- Crucial Ballitax hands down if u can find them, i personally have the OCZ they r good but pricy for REV2
3- ASUS, MSI, DFI stick to those, i have a DFI nf4 Ultra D(love it)
4- well if ur buying something now get a pci-e mobo, but as far as going SLI i'm not too sure about it, unless u have the money to spend. but buying a card now and wait till it drops in price for upgrading i'm totally against it, coz by the time this happens, ur better off keeping that money and sell the one u have and a get a card that would own 2 6800GTs, and i don't c much of a future for it, i believe in multiple gpus like the one gigabyte made
5- i personally have the 520 WATTS OCZ modstream, really nice, a bit pricy, but really worth it.

ok this system will definitly last you 2 years, u have to know that doom 3, far cry and HL2 already have been released, with current cards that r out there, u can run the games upto 1600x1200. now a lot of the games that will be released in the future r most likely to use one of these engines. the only engine that we haven't seen a single benchmark for it is unreal's 3rd engine, which supports Pixel Shader Model 3, but most likely the x800s, X850s and nvidias 6 series most likely will run any game that uses unreals latest engine.
