So here is what I am looking at so far...

Memory - G.Skill 2 x 2GB - $54.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166

PSU - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX - $124.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006

CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - $190 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017 + $37 for the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003&Tpk=HDT-S1283

MOBO - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P - $134.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128358

Video Card - Not Sure Yet - Looking at the GTX series, any advise? looking to be able to play D3/SC2 games at relativly high settings - don't plan on spending more than $400

HDD - Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS - $80 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136319 (possibly x2)

As i said above im def looking at the nVidia GTX series. Not sure which actual card to go with at this point, I have read many reviews etc. and am still undecided. Also if anyone sees any problems with the parts I have so far please inform me. I went straight off Newegg with prices as this is typically where buy all my parts. I am unaware of where to get any of it cheaper. Thanks ahead of time.

i7 with 1366 socket boards only dawg. That also means DDR3 memory only. As for a card, you cant really go wrong with the GTX 260's right now, price/performance wise.

Why the 1200? It's.... well. Personal preference I guess.

I'd personally get a less expensive case and pick up a GTX 295 or Radeon HD 4870X2.

You can't run an i7 on a P45. You're looking for an X58 board. You can't use DDR2 memory, either. DDR3 only with i7. You either need to change the motherboard and RAM, or change the processor. At this point, I'd recommend you just get a Core 2 Quad instead of the i7, and that would be /far/ less expensive than getting DDR3 and a X58 board.

HDD, the Western Digital 6400AALS is arguably the fastest 7200RPM HDD on the planet. $80 or so. I'd pick up 2 and put them in RAID 0 if budget will allow. If you buy them from Newegg, order them separately one at a time. They're horrible about packaging HDDs. I'd try Amazon or Zipzoomfly too.

So switch over to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017 (Q6600)

Which other, cheaper case would you advise? The only other case I have considered so far is the Antec P180 which is currently $150 on newegg which is only $5 cheaper than the 1200 due to its current sale

I take it you are referring to http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10008688&prodlist=celebros

A Q6600 (you linked above) or a Q9550 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115041 would also be an option, but you'd probably never notice the difference, especially if you're willing to OC the Q6600 a bit. I strongly recommend the Xigmatech HDT-S1283 HSF for either. The stock HSF isn't any good if you want to OC at all.

I was referring to the AALS, or "Black" series drive, not the AAKS, or "Blue" series drive. The "Blue" drive is very good as well, but not /quite/ as fast due to its slightly smaller buffer, and has a 3 year warranty whereas the Black series drive has a 5 year warranty..

Updated

Would the change from Q6600 to Q9550 be worth the ~$110 price difference?
