I want to build my own computer case and wanted to make it all clear, like maybe plexiglass. Is there anything I need to know about when it comes to putting all the hardware in,are all motherboards about the same size? and what do all of you think about plexiglass,or another kind of clear materal?

You do know that you could buy a clear case, right? But where's the fun in that, right? hehe... anyhow, start a worklog over in the custom pc case forum :D

Building a case from scratch is going to be a challenge. Building a case from scratch with plexiglass is going to make it even harder. I think one of your main problems you're going to run into is going to be trying to figure out how to join the peices of plexiglass at the corners. It can be done with angle irons or even just glue, but you are definitely going to have to give that some thought.

All in all... it would be much easier to just buy a plexiglass case, and it might even make more sense economically.

pretty much everything is standarized.. umm.. no, motherboards are not the same size.. even regular ATX can differ in size.. what stays the same is the assembly points for screws.

Yea, check out the casemod forums. I am sure there are plexi builds there. A router works best for making clean cuts in plexi. It will be a long and difficult project if you have never worked with plexi before. I made an HTPC out of black plexi once. Have fun.

If your serious about building your own acrylic case, you'll definately want to pick up one of these, trust me, it will make things much easier, and enjoyable.

Good luck and have fun... and start a log once you begin!!

Thanks for all the input guys,I have a few things to consider before I start this project but when I do,i'll post a log of what i'm doing in the casemod forums along with pics if possable.
