I've decided to build a gaming pc instead of buying a new pc. I just have some questions about what exactly I need, if everything is compatiable, and if I have everything I need down to cables or more fans or whathaveyou. Here is what I have so far:

Recheck your motherboard package. If I am not mistaken it will come with a SATA cable/s.

Accessories

SLI bridge connector
UltraDMA 133/100/66 cable
IDE cable
FDD cable
SATA cables
SATA power cables
USB2.0 / Game port module
COM port module
IEEE1394 port module
I/O Shield
InterVideo WinDVD Suite (OEM version)
User's manual
Optional Fan (for Water-Cooling or Passive-Cooling only)

That and your board is socket 939 and your CPU is socket AM2, no worky ;).

Also that RAM is DDR2 which will not work on that board, it will work with that CPU just not that board. Looks like an AM2 board is in order.

if I get some different RAM and CPU I can keep the board right? What type of RAM should I be looking for, since I know I need a socket 939 processor.

s939 athlons use ddr memory (184 pin) while AM2 uses ddr2 (240 pin)
also, i would personally switch over to a DFI board. I've had no problems with it (other than a pretty warm chipset which is mainly due to the 32C ambient temp in my room  ) and it overclocks pretty damn well.
i would also look into a nice 5.1 setup rather than a cheap 7.1 setup. haven't really heard much about that specific set of Creative speakers but my friends Logitech 2.1 sounds much better than my 2.1 Creative speakers.
as for the ram, monarch usually always has good deals. Fry's also has some good deals sometimes but remember that 4x512 on an athlon64 means the speed will default down to 333mhz isntead of 400mhz
and btw, its not like you NEED 2 dvd drives, but sure why not :p
hope that helps

how about if I kept the ram I already picked out and switched my Mobo with the one you suggested? Would that work?

and how about these speakers?

the thing is, the ram you selected right now is ddr2 and the motherboard i suggested is for a s939 processor which means ddr memory. tho, you could always switch over to an AM2 motherboard and leave everything else the same :p probably the best thing about AM2 so far is the cut in heat given off. from what i've seen, AM2 hasn't been too much of an improvement on the A64 but we all know AMD has something in the works :p

also,. those speakers seem fine, but if ya wanna go with the 7.1 that would be great also. or you can always look into a gooood pair of headphones

That's a good set for the price.

I have those, they are sweet!! I have the center, left and right on my desk and the 2 rear speakers 10ft behind me. I just turn down the volume to the front ones. Sounds sweet!!!

btw, i think your hdd is meant for Raid only...meaning you'd need another 1 :)

This looks like a good setup. Have you also priced this out at Monarch? You might be able to save a little. It wouldn't hurt to try. I buy from there quite frequently and have always liked those guys.

How do you know this drive is for RAID only? Will it not work by itself?

LOL speedy. . . :p

My rusty 2 cents- I think an Athlon 3800+ X2 is only gonna be around £50 more than the 3500+ if not less, so if you can afford the price difference the benefit of the dual core will be large.

it says RE and if im correct, RE stands for raid edition and that you have to run them specifically in RAID.
