What do you guys think, I'm 15 right now and I'm building my computer. We have to old ones right now and I'm getting the parts from the oldest one and leaving my mom with her stuff so she doesn't annoy me anymore. I'm making my mom pay online and I pay her with the money I earn. Since I live in Mexico I can't find anything so I need to buy things online and a lot cheaper. A P4 1.7GHz here it costs around $200 :S :p

This is what I've got so far. :)

Coming Computer:

Case: Getting a new one at local store.

Processor: AMD Athlon XP Thoroughbred 2200+ 1.8GHz 266MHz FSB

Memory: Not Bought Yet

Motherboard: ASUS A7V600 (400MHz FSB, DDR400, AGP 8X Support)

Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 9600 128MB DDR

Hard Drive: Seagate 40GB 5400RPM

Monitor: Old AOC Spectrum 4V 800x600 RES

Keyboard: Old Turbo Plus Keyboard (I will try to get a Logitech Cordless MX Duo soon.)

Mouse: Current Dell by Logitech (I will try to get a Logitech Cordless MX Duo soon.)

Speakers: MS-686... who knows who's it from :p

That's all for now. Thanks & Regards.

*jaw drops*

Anyway, for an extremely low budget system it doesnt look bad! But then again I don't know how low of a price range your looking at here.

If you ever do get a logitech due it HAS to be the MX duo... thats the one thats well... worth getting.

Get an Asus A7N8X-X motherboard and an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ for $150 for both of those. You will be happier in the long run.

I second that if that is the price you can get those items for. I do not know what prices would be over there for those items.

Not a bad system for a 15 year old :D

I'd say upgrade that hard drive before you shell out for a better processor.

The motherboard and processor was bought by me around 5 days ago, waiting to ship here so will not get anything else. :p

I think that generally you should wait for advice before you order. And don't ask questions about it after you've ordered. It makes some people grumpy because they feel they've wasted their time giving you advice you simply can't use.

I've never said "Advice Me What To Buy", so please, learn to read. I said "What Do You Think Of It?"... See the difference? Good. ;) I would advice you to take some grammar classes before blaming. Thanks.

Also the Hard Drive is an Seagate of 40GB now. :)

Not sure who you're talking to, but you might have worded your question differently if you wanted to get across the idea you'd already ordered.

Lots of time people put in a fair amount of effort providing advice, so I'm just trying to nicely let you know to tell them you don't need any.

id give it a 6 out of ten in price vs performance. im wondering how much you spent on the 40gig hd. could you have gotten an 80 gig for $10 more?

and also, im sure that monitor will make that system seem a whole lot worse than it really is. Get a decent 17 incher asap if not a 19". It will be a tremendous upgrade.

And there's the problem: if you bought the computer for games, you'll need to buy better parts. You've built a good computer for a first-time build (I'll give you a 7.5 out of 10 for the tower), but when you get the chance I suggest upgrading the monitor (at least 17 inches), hard drive (40GB may not be enough), keyboard and mouse (virtually any combo from Microsoft or Logitech would be better than your current combo).

Que pasa dude?

Not a bad system. Guess you went the VIA route. At least you got the kT600 though, as it had better reviews then previous VIA chipset generations. The 2500+ is the one in the sweet spot right now actually. S'okay though, the 2200+ still kicks ass.

The HHD and the monitor should definately be next in line for an upgrade. You dont have to go for the "15000rpm" stuff either. Just look for a good deal on a sweet 7200rpm drive, i'll take care of ya good. 19" CRT monitors are the way to go right now. Games look really good at 1600x1200 on a 19" CRT. Go with a "flat surface" monitor aswell, it really helps out.

You could've built a much better system if you had gone KT880 or Nforce2, but I guess that isn't very relevant anymore.

Btw get a MX500/700 and just a regular logitech keyboard instead of duo, cheaper than duo and keyboards don't really matter that much - I mean one might be 80 bucks for expensive than the other but it's still just the same old crap we've been seeing for the last 20 years.

Remember, I had not much money and they were doing preatty cheap offers at eBay, that's how I got this. :) I would have liked to go with a better one, but I'm tried of waiting and having problems with the current best computer (out of 2) that is from my mom and its the only one that is "OK" for games. Mine will be much better, she won't buy me parts as a gft, I have to show her the money first :p

jeeze, there are way too many of these threads now. and why do you mention in both your post and sig that you're only 15? i built mine when i was 13.

I was going to build my first one when I was around 15 or 16 I think, but the prices in RAM had jumped so high all of a sudden that it was far less expensive to buy a computer off the shelf. So we did.

Done plenty of upgrades but I didn't get to build my own until last november when I was 20 (now 21). No matter.
