$2000 total budget.

building a rig for a friend and its been a couple years since i stopped keeping up with new technology.

she is a graphic artist and will be using maya, PS, and flash a lot.

she wants to go with intel core 2 quad....any suggestions on specific model?
 
You should be able to fit a Q9450 in there, or a Q9550 if it's out by the time you make the build. The next highest model would be a QX9650, which would probably be over budget and wouldn't really be worth it either.
