Hi everyone, this is my first time being in the process of building my own desktop and I wanted to know if these parts worked well with each other. Also if there is anything else I should buy or any place besides newegg.com I can get them cheaper but the quality just as good.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester 1GHz HT 2 X 512KB L2 Cache 939 Dual Core Processor

ABIT KN8 SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nforce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

RAIDMAX Astro ATX - 268WB BLACK .7mm Japanese secc ATX MID tower computer case

Seasonic S12 - 600 ATX 12V 600W Power Supply 100

Corsair XMS 2GB ( 2 x 1GB) 184 - Pin DDR SDRAM unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel kit system memory

eVGA 256 - P2 - N516 Geforce 7800GT CO SE 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 Vivo PCI Express x16 Video card

Turtle Beach Riviera 5.1 Channels 24 - Bit 48KHz PCI Interface sounnd card (not sure if buying)

Antec LED 80XFAN 80mm Blue LED light CASE cooling Fan (buying 2)

Sony Black 16X DVD +R 8X DVD +RW DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 5X DVD-Ram 16x DVD-Rom 48X CD-R 24X CD-RW 48X CD-Rom 2M Cache ATAPI/E-IDE DVD Burner

LITE -ON Black 16X DVD-Rom 52X CD-R 32X CD-RW 52X Cd-ROM 1.5M Cache IDE Combo Drive

Western Digital 200GB IDE Hard Drive

If anyone can get back to me about this configuration and changes I should make that would be greatly appreciated...

Although I don't know much about the power supply you chose I would suggest not skipping out on it. A power supply can literally make OR break your system. If I were a novice builder I would suggest going with a trusted name. Antec, pc power and cooling, etc.

he's fine. seasonic is a great psu manufacturer, its typically a good choice for quieter psu's too.

Everything looks pretty good. I'd skip on the sound card and use the onboard audio. Are you going to buy an aftermarket (non stock) Heastsink Fan?

Also, you might want to wait on that graphics card. Give it a couple days and (with the release of the 7900gt's) the 7800's will go down in price. Either that or you could upgrade.

The antec fans I would buy wouldnt be as quiet or what? because the case I am getting has two 80mm fans that i was going to swtich out but I dont think you can put a 120 mm fan in there place, can you? And do all of the parts work together well or is there something I should change or does anyone kno besides newegg any cheaper place I could go to get these components...?

I ditch the soundcard for a SB X-fi (unless you're not going to use good speakers or headphones...)

Why not go for a sata hd. They're about the same price nowadays.
