ok i just built a computer for my uncle and i installed an ABIT KD7 motherboard and an AMD 1800 which i bought from these forums. I installed everything correctly, except floppy drive which i dont need, and when i go to boot up it says on the first post bootup.
CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR - DEFAULTS LOADED...
and i try to set the first boot device to cd-rom drive and the computer wont post when it restarts. so i turn the power supply switch off and i turn it back on and it keeps loading defaults. Then i try to use a floppy boot disk and it says
disk I/O error - replace disk, then press space bar to continue to boot from floppy.
I cant seem to get this computer to boot up. I keep changing the first boot device back to cd-rom but it keeps changing it back. Any ideas?
edit: i changed the cmos battery and its doing the same thing, by that i mean the settings wont stay, it keeps saying CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR - DEFAULTS LOADED... .Also, I kno its not the floppy drive becuase i booted my norton ghost floppy up and it worked fine. What is going on here.
