Anyone know any guides/how to's on how to build an external water cooling setup? Or pictures of custom built external setups would help give me some ideas. I'm thinking about going back to water cooling but now there isn't enough room in my case.

My main concern is finding or building a box for it. I have no idea where to start.

Most people just use a small MATX CPU case, a pretty one :).

Cut enough holes in it for the pump and radiator...

For the cost and time, would you consider upgrading your current case to fit the entire system?

Here's the one I built several years ago......;)

The cost and time doesn't really concern me, I would just prefer to build/buy an external enclosure.

Here is a link to my worklog a year ago. I build a fully custom external enclosure that sits on top of my system from scratch.

Hopefully it helps.

Wow you guys got some nice setups. Unfortunately, I have neither the tools nor skills to build something like that :p

I may look into getting a MATX case and suggested above.

Thanks for the replies and pics.

If I were to do it again I would make my thing much smaller LOL.

I think a verticle setup would be best. Just pick up some sheet metal or acrylic and drill holes and mount things. its not that hard.

Wow i'm glad i stumbled across this thread. I'm building an external watercooling unit (out of a retired eMachine, 2x120 heater core, eheim pump) and these links are great resources.

Right now i'm at the point where the unit is functional, but tuning and cosmetic work is left before I post my worklog :D
