Hi,
I've been looking around the web for the past couple of days for the hardware I want in my next system. Here's the stuff I got in mind. I'm pretty sure that eveything is compatible and will work, but I just want to make sure with you guys. And of course, I'm open for suggestions how to improve it. TIA.

Pretty nice set-up but I would use the RAIDMax case newegg because it is much cheaper(the $27 w/out the PSU). Also if you can, select the AMD Athlon 64, not only is it cheaper, you won't need a dual channel set-up, therefore spending less (it also releases much less heat than the Prescott which means than you won't need a 3rd party cooler unless you plan to oc it). Still looks good for a P4.

Yeah, I just found this review and Athlon64 looks like a much better choice. I will probably settle with the 3000+ since it has a nice price/performance ratio.

Now gotta find a mobo and some RAM that will run with this...

Well, then thankfully, you don't have a Prescott cored P4. ;) If you're going to buy the retail P4 and aren't going to have a case window, the stock P4 cooler is quiet and has pretty good cooling capacity. You can also ditch the Zalman as well, that or get the OEM version of the CPU----which means you just get the CPU, not a heatsink too.

I would go for the ASUS board - they are, for lack of better word, awesome.
I would keep the 1gig of RAM.
And don't wait for the 6600 - go for the 6800 (if you can afford it). It is the best card on the market, and more than capable to run anything. The 6600 won't be as good as that, to put it simply.
And buy the retail version of the Athlon64 - no need to worry about 3rd party cooling then

The rest of the system looks good, though.

If I keep this RAM I will probably be able to use it in dual channel when mobos on nForce4 will come out, eh? Maybe I should look into Samsung, I heard they make good RAM (and the price lower than Corsair, Crucial, etc), just not for OC (which I'm not planning on doing anyway).

BTW, when do mobos on nForce4 come out? Maybe I should just wait for them (and PCI-E especially) and buy the 3500+ on socket 939 which will surely drop in price at that time.

Nforce 4 comes out in the end of the year but if you are going to wait that long, then just buy it all with the new hardware out (PCI-e, DDR2). One problem though, there will be 4 different versions of the Nforce 4 according to The Inquirer.

Well, I can still get stuff like a HDD and a Monitor in the meantime. I'm starting to realize if I spend the money right now, I will have to upgrade sooner than I though.

Just buy the monitor right now; monitors are truly affordable right now. As for the HD, wait until SATA II come out, double the bandwidth; it should also be compatible with the Nforce 4 chipset.
