I've been carefully picking parts and what not for the last couple of weeks. I've decided for a case I'm going with a black Xaser III. And the fans that come with the case are anything but strong. I use a Xaser III to build a case for a friend about a month ago, and I could barely feel the fans blowing any air through the case.

So, I've been thinking of replacing the 7 fans with Vantec Tornados. I'd of course have to install another fan controller besides the Hardcano 12 that I'm ordering. So, is that a good idea? 7 Vantec Tornados. But they'd all be hooked up to fan controllers. Yay, nay?

i got 2 vantec tornados hooked with the vantec nexus fan controller, still louder than i thought.
 
I would definately look for a case that uses 120mm fans for good air flow and low noise. I just built a computer for my mother using an Antec Lan Boy, and I'm jelous I wish the case was a little taller otherwise I'd already have one.
 
hardcano isnt worth the price
7 tornados.... going to chain your computer to the wall so it doesnt get away?
i personaly think the thermaltake case's are ugly
 
I can live with noise. Right now, I've got a clear acrylic case with a Thermaltake Spark 7 heatsink on my p4. I leave it up on high all the time, it's about 43dba. And with the rest of my 5 case fans (nothing special, just your typical LED lights), my computer is pretty loud.

I'm thinking that if I hook all the Tornados up to a fan controller, I can at least get them as quiet as my heatsink if they are in fact too loud. Maybe I'll order one and see how it is, and then decide from there.

I'm just going for ultimate cooling inside my case. Noise isn't an issue for me.
 
I just heard a sound clip of a Tornado..pretty goddamn loud. Maybe water cooling? Could somebody suggest me some good water cooling kits?

I think your underestimating the power of the Tornado heh. A spark 7 is nothin compared to a Tornado. 43db for the spark, and like 55 for the tornado, and 7 of them you would probably hear through a 1 foot thick concrete wall.

Just use lots of 120mm high flow fans, they slightly lower db rating (around 44-48) and push the same as a 92mm tornado. Also with 120's, they don't have an annoying noise if turned down like the tornados do. But yeh, buy one before you buy 7 and then 120mm might 'sound' like a better idea :p

Edit: you posted like 10 secs before i did, but to answer your new question the Koolance Exos or Swiftech h20-120 are good kits, read up, but i wouldn't recommend most kits as they aren't as good at cooling as custom kits.

This would be my first water cooling install as well. I'd definitely let it run in an empty case for about 24 hours before putting any new hardware in it.
 
your gonna waste the the money on 7 vantec tornados??? why ???? for that price you can afford watercooling doyeeee expecialy kuz they will make your computer sound like a dust buster or a small lawn mower, lmao :D if the noise isnt an issue go for it if you want to overpower your volume of your speakers and for that matter anyone talking while they are in the room lmao
 
go with DD for your water blocks, they make some of the best, also you could go with a DD pump and make your own resivwar, should be something like 150-200 for a good setup

i looked at some benchmarks and it seemed that the exos with that cpu block beats the other kits

i just looked at rbx vs the listed cpu block on a exos and there is a little better preformance to be achieved but its pretty close.. personally i would go with the setup i listed.. the only thing that would concern me is if the pumps can handle that much flow restriction.. if any watercooling gods can check in now it would be nice

with an external rig leaking isnt too much of a worry.. additionaly if you use distilled water it doesnt matter too much if the whole mobo gets hosed down.. water isnt conductive untill its got contaminates

most of the time the res or pump or somthing like that leaks.. as long as you run it a day or so out of the system to check for leaks your pretty much all set. i would even go to the level of hookign it up to everything but keeping it unpowered and then check for leaks that way since your not going to move it around too much there is no risk other then a day or two of pcb drying
 
I'll have to think about it. If I do go the liquid cooling route, I'll be getting an Exos

But, I'm not sure I like the idea of having everything rest on top of the case.

Would I be able to move my computer much? Would I have to do anything special when booting it up?
 
the exosi showed and the aluminum one are no diff except for weight... th exos has straps that hold it on and setup so it powers on the pumps and fans and stuff when the computers powered on
 
If you had 7 tornados, your computer could double as a hovercraft!
 
does this case use the same fan brackets as the other chieftec designs? if so then the tornado will not fit right because it's a 38mm thick fan instead of 25mm. if you do make them fit, then the 7 tornados are way overkill. for the same price go to www.mpja.com and buy some of the big papst fans that push like 200+ cfm then put one at the top of the case and one at the bottom. that's all you'd need.

I've had my EXOS sitting on top of my case for close to 2 years now with no problem. However if you are still worried, it doesn't HAVE to be on top. You can put it on the desk next to the case with no problems too.
 
i doubt you will be dissapointed...its what im going to get some day...
