ok heres whats been ordered so far...

SHUTTLE SB75G2
WD HD 200GB @ 7200RPM w/ 8MB buffer
P4 3.0C 800FSB w/ HT
Lite On Black DVD+/-RW Drive - 8x DVD, 40x CD-R Combo Drive

with a 9-1 flash reader coming to fill up the floppy slot.

these are already on the way.... now i got some questions and am looking for some suggestions.

this is gonna be an all in one pc/htpc/gaming rig....and im on a budget now.

First question is RAM. I want a gig of dual channel 184 pin ddr400.
I was looking at Corsair Value Select Dual Channel Kit 184 Pin 1G(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200 - OEM because its only $164. Now, does this sound good?

I know its not the best ram out there but i was also thinking i ould pick up 512mb of either HyperX or XMS for around the same price and then pick up another 512 later on when i gets more money. Which sounds like the better idea?

Next is the video card. There are a couple options here so ill run through them quickly.

A) 9600AIW card leaving the PCI slot open for a sound card (the box has the Realtek ALC 650 onboard but i've heard mixed reviews on this)

B)9700Pro in the agp slot with a TV card in the pci slot (with this set up i would be using the onboard sound, would have a better card for gaming and would have a tv card, which are supposedly better then then AIW brand, to run the htpc part).

C) for around the same price i could also get a 9800pro 128meg card and a tv card. (problem with the 9800 is size...will it fit in the box)

i am leaning towards either B or C. I need to know if their is any problems with a 9800 fitting in a shuttle and i need suggestions on wether or not the onboard sound will be good enough letting me be able to fill the pci slot with a tv card. And if this is the case i need suggestions on tv cards.

I thank you all in advance for you help/sugestions/critisisms. Ill post final stats and pics when this is all done. :D

The 9800pro should fit, it's been done before.

I would get the 9600AIW, so if you ever need to upgrade anything else you have the PCI slot open.

I would just get the gig of ram now. Not sure why though

get 9800pro, get the tv card, and use onboard,

get 512 of xms now and get another 512 later from the same dealer.

cool cool...thanks for the suggestions....lets keep em coming....im likeing the second posters ideas :D

BUMP!!

any suggestions on the best ddr400 xms mem i should pick up....should i worry about getting a dimm with the heat spreaders being that this stuff is gonna be in a confined area in the shuttle?

i would get a gig now. whats yoiur budget. Try mushkin 222 special. its like 250 bucks on the egg
