Okay, so as it is im getting $750 from my parents and Im looking to spend as little of my own money as possible... I already have software, a monitor and hard drivers but heres what i'll be needing..

Case
Memory
Processor
Motherboard
Power supply
Graphics Card

Now what I've currently selected (and unfortunately im picky with some things)
Lian-Li pc65 ($120) - Note All the prices are off newegg, but I may not order from them
OCZ Enhanced Latency pc3200 184 pin 512mb 2x ($246)
Athlon 64 3200 (2ghz 1mb l2 cache) ($214)
Chaintech ZNF-250 ($159)
Antec 430 watt ($57)
Sapphire 9800 pro ($198)

That totals $994 and has me spending $244 of my own money (which I would prefer not to do)
Im not as picky about the memory anymore, so if there is a cheaper type of memory (still pc3200 and 1gb of it)... the only thing that I do not want to change is the Graphics card and the processor.. the processor because im not going to overclock it (reason for not getting 64 3000) and the graphics card because I dont think I could get anything better for the price?

I wouldn't mind spending $100 of my own, so if I could get that down? Any help? :)

Why get such a nice case?

Are you overclocking? If not, don't get such expensive RAM...

Stick with the CPU... it's a good choice for the money.

no overclocking, the expensive case because I really like it (however im now willing to go with something cheaper) and for the third statement, thats why its one of the parts that im not willing to change :

Kingston Value RAM
Antec Sonata (bundled with decent PSU)

The rest look good. That should drop your cost by a lot :)

There you go... aim more towards that.

y not get a different mobo? MSI Neo Plat. is around 20-30 bucks cheaper and is a great board.

Looks good, although I have a few suggestions.

Swap the Sapphire 9800 for this MSI 9800 Pro based on the r360 core, which is picked up as a 9800XT.

Also if you dont care about overclocking I'd go with some cas3 corsair, which for 1gb is $158.. link

here

I love the Sonata, great value, well designed, and EXTREMELY quiet. I use it for my fileserver/print server, but I can also appriciate if you want to stick with the Lian Li, cool looking case and is what I use on my high end pc as well.

okay, got the new graphics card the msi neo platinum (guess i wouldn't really need to overclock so..) and the corsair memory (prefer the name and its cheaper) puts the total at $804... much better, thanks..

just noticed you can get cas 2.5 pc3200 corsair for another ~$5 a stick... might be worth it

I think it definitely is :) $10 is minimal compared to the performance increase :D

alright, so i've added everything to the cart, total being $812.99 without shipping...

now overnight shipping is like $70, 2day is like $40... fedex express saver shipping to south carolina is $1.98?? uh.. is there something wrong with this? They are going to ship this stuff from california (or new jersey, cant remember where they ship from or where the warehouses are) for a small cost of $1.98?

yep, most of the shipping on newegg is free or just a few bucks... in your case it is 1.98 bucks :D

Go for the 2 dollar shipping (it is two to three days to anwhere in the US anyways)

Newegg is known for very, very fast and free shipping...

Just get the Fedex Saver shipping - I don't know how Newegg can ship thousands of dollars of equipment for $0, but to ship something like a fUncPad costs $4.

Plus, even if they ship from Cali, it still only took like 2 days to get here to Massachusetts.

Oh yeah, nice system by the way (after all the changes).

You can save ~$30 by going with a 3000+, the performance difference isn't really that big.

I'm thinking the computer is his since his parents gave him the money to buy one for himself.
