Im going to start building a case soon, and i dont know what i should build it out of. I was thinking aluminum angle for the frame, and steel plating for the side panels.

Im thinking of using pieces of aluminum plating for the HDD case, CD holder, and PSU holder(<-- that im not sure of).

Thoughts from the "pros" would be greatly appreciated.

Why not use aluminum for the whole thing? It's easier to work with than steel.

BTW - I think you mean sheet steel, not steel plate - unless you want a heavy case. Ditto sheet aluminum - though thick aluminum diamond plate might have an industrial look that some would find interesting.

ya i mean sheet steel. the reason im not using aluminum for the whole thing is because i have some sheet steel laying around.

I actually did this for a class in university .. Stick with Sheet Metal for everything, although aluminum angle for the frame sounds like a great idea as well..

Or make it absolutely ridiculous and make it out of 1"x1" square tubing .. :D
